“The thing to understand about skin tags is just how many people suffer with them, but more importantly is how easy they are to remove”
Sarah Hudson
A skin tag is a small benign tumor that forms primarily in areas where the skin forms increases such as the neck, armpit and groin however they may also occur on the eyelids. Skin tags are thought to occur from skin rubbing and can be irritated by shaving, clothing or jewellery such as earrings and necklaces. And though many clients do not like the appearance of skin tags it’s important to realise they are harmless.
How are Skin Tags treated?
The most effective treatment for removing a skin tag is Diathermy.
Diathermy uses heat to cauterise harmless non-malignant imperfections. Heat is delivered through a very fine needle directly onto (not into) the area of concern, immediately dissolving the skin tag, milia or cauterizing blood flow to a stubborn broken capillary.
The area treated will take about 7-10 days to fully heal. An LED Light Treatment will aid in faster healing for the area treated.
Laser treatment works by delivering pulses of energy that is transferred to heat; this coagulates blood vessels which are then re-absorbed by the body. Although veins seem to instantly disappear, they can take up to a month to be totally re-absorbed by the body.
Once treated, a skin tag will not return however new skin tags have the potential to grow nearby and some clients are more prone to skin tags than others. Depending on size, individual skin tags may require more than one treatment.
