THE CONDITION
Sagging skin is an inevitable part of the skin ageing process. As we age, the skin and underlying connective tissue begin to stretch which can lead to a loss of firmness and other visible changes in the skin.
THE CAUSE
Over time, cells stop renewing your structural supports such as collagen and elastin, causing a loss of elasticity which can be added to by excessive sun exposure – particularly UVA which speeds up the natural breakdown of your skins important connective tissue. Hormones also play a part thanks to the reduction of estrogen during menopause, with poor diet, stress, alcohol, smoking, and a lack of exercise also contributing factors.
